Funke Akindele Shares Insight On Leveraging Digital Media To Drive Nollywood’s Growth

Nigerian Box Office Queen, Funke Akindele has explained the significance of social media promotion and content marketing to film producers and for the success of film projects.
The award-winning actress, Funke, whose recent cinema movie, Everybody Loves Jenifa is close to hitting an unprecedented N2Billion, while delivering a lecture at the Media Sales Conference, highlighted the significance of social media as a powerful tool for effective digital promotion.
Sharing her experience, Funke Akindele recounted how she does not relent after the completion of her movie production, rather, she utilizes the social media, collaborates with her team to make promotional content, to ensure that the movie performs well in the market.
She said, “after the completion of my movies, I don’t sit back and just watch. I collaborate with my team to create content for the promotion of my movies. Camera was always on standby. We shoot content back-to-back.”
Funke further hinted that movie producers could use content creators, such as dancers, skit makers and other creatives for their advantage, to boost the success rate of their film.
Speaking about her journey in the Nigerian movie industry, she noted that “Nobody made me, God made me”, highlighting hard work, resilience and consistency as contributing factors to her enviable success in the entertainment industry.
She further narrated how D’banj inspired and motivated her, during her encounter with him at an event, to add more installments to her movie, ‘Jenifa’, which was a huge success, a project which later birthed Everybody Loves Jenifa.
