Grammy Winner, Seni Saraki Speaks On Using Afrobeats To Shape Global Soundtrack Culture

Nigerian musician cum entrepreneur, Seni Saraki has spoken on how he is driving the global influence of Afrobeats through international soundtrack projects. He earned his first Grammy for his contribution to the Bob Marley: One Love soundtrack, which won Best Reggae Album

Seni, who appeared on Channels Television entertainment news expressed excitement about his Grammy award achievement while also congratulating Nigerian artistes who were nominated for the Grammy award in different categories.

Speaking on the soundtrack with Afrobeats, Seni mentioned his invaluable contribution on the trailer for second Black Panther (Wakanda Forever) movie soundtrack. He was pivotal in facilitating a trip by award-winng Director, Ryan Coogler, and Ludwig Göransson, composer to Ogidi Studios, Lagos where most of the film score and soundtrack were recorded. The trailer featuring Tems’ remake of ‘No woman, No Cry’ became the most viewed Marvel trailer of all-time.

Seni further cited the significance of Africa’s unique storytelling style and how it helps propel the key messaging to movie audience across ages.

Recounting his early experience with soundtrack, Seni stated that “my first interaction with movies would be through soundtracks”, stating that his passion for movie soundtrack transcends just the business concerns. He said his “love for the art of sound track is personal.”

Seni Saraki is the co-founder and CEO of NATIVE, a Nigerian music culture magazine and music enterprise. He is also involved in the Nigerian music industry and has worked on soundtracks for films.
